This baby is about a week old. It was the mother's first litter, she had three babies, but only one made it.

I like the old roses, the Gallicas in particular. I don't spray anything with chemicals, and I feel a garden should be survival of the fittest. These plants have stood the test of time and don't need anyone to pamper them. I will have a few available spring of 2008, and will custom propagate from my plants by request. If you think roses are too fussy, and maybe you have failed with hybrids in the past, you should give the antiques a try.

Just one of the lovely daylilies that I don't know the name of due to the label fading. The print looked good when I got them, so I didn't get around to putting in a permant plant tag when I planted. Whatever it's name, it was a very nice plant.

This was on June 29 2007 in my brother in laws field. Mountain mint was attracting tons of butterflies, moths and bees.

This was taken August 2 2007. The plant is Asclepias purpurescens, which is a beautiful native plant that I have only seen in one location locally. Of course, the Paoli bypass is going to take that location out. The plants do survive being defoliated by the larva, but I don't think they can survive the asphalt assault.

Same butterfly, showing a different side. I am going to grow Sedum 'Autumn Fire' this year. It is supposed to be an improvement on 'Autumn Joy', with a tighter growth habit and thicker foliage.

This photo was taken in Oct 2007 on Sedum 'Autumn Joy'. The Sedum's are a good source for the butterflies and bees, there is always a lot of insect activity on them. I also grow Sedum 'Matrona', which seems to be attractive to them a little bit earlier than the 'Autumn Joy' is.
